Our globalized and highly networked industrial society is confronting the limits to growth in materials and energy use. As change accelerates, our highly complex global society will likely find itself less networked, less wealthy, and less secure.
But many of us are also discovering more joyful, life-affirming paths along the way.
We feel slow-burning ecological distress in our bodies. The fear and trauma we carry about global events like climate change and the pandemic produce a collective nervous system experience, influencing our daily decisions, life choices, politics, and dreams. How we process these events will determine whether or not we inflame other social divisions along the way. How do people and communities sense, name, and get ahead of slow-burning change?
